After more than a century of being sumberged in cold deep water with no sunlight, the logs have aCquired qualities similar to that of petrified wood. Testing has proved the lumber is 15 - 17% stronger than wood harvested today.
This ensures the lumber has longevity because it has come from old growth forestS - the ring count is 3x more dense than currently milled timber. The wood has developed unique colouring from laying in the sediment and is almost completely sap free.
Our wood is an eco friendly alternative to traditionally harvested lumber. A large percent of the proceeds from the purchase of our lumber goes back into the rehabilitation of the lakes we are retrieving from.

Recovering lumber has many benefits

We find new ways to create new options
During the 19th and 20th centuries, log drives were an efficient means of transporting lumber to sawmills and during this journey some of the logs sank creating vast underwater forests. It was then determined that the bark from these sunken logs was compromising the ecosystems of the lakes by creating dangerous pockets methane gasses and choking off oxygen supplies to aquatic life.
We work within the guidelines of provincial and federal environmental organizations to ensure the rehablitiation.
The team of dedicated divers work tirelessly to clear the lake beds thus avoiding deforestation and bringing these sleeping giants back to life. All of our divers are certified and experienced folllowing all the environmental guidelines to safely bring these logs to shore.
